Randolph Fire Department Now Equipped with Pet Oxygen Masks

Firefighters receive donation of four sets of life-saving pet masks from Canine Company

The Randolph Fire Department has received a donation of four sets of pet oxygen mask kits, a gift from at-home pet services provider Canine Company. Now first responders from each of the department’s four stations will have the ability to deliver life-saving oxygen to pets in need on the scene of house fires and other emergencies.

Family pets are at special risk during a home fire because they are unable to leave the house without help. An estimated 40,000 die each year from smoke inhalation. The cone-shaped pet masks are designed for a pet’s snout, which human masks do not fit.

That’s why Canine Company began donating the pet oxygen mask kits to first responders I 2008. Other Morris County fire departments that have received masks donations from Canine company include Arbor Hose Company, Helmetta, Hopelawn, Morris Township, Morristown, Mount Tabor, Pequonnock and South Old Bridge.
