Ridgewood Officials 'Working Through' Parking Deck Details

Style, design, and size of the project need to be determined.

Ridgewood officials are working through the details of the parking deck now that voters have signed off on the project.

More than 3,200 voted ‘yes’ to a non-binding referendum question Tuesday of whether the parking deck should be built or not at the intersection of Hudson and South Broad Streets.

“I’m very happy about the election results and about the level of participation, more generally,” said Mayor Paul Aronsohn, who campaigned hard for the referendum to be approved. “Voter turnout was particularly high. Voter support was particularly strong.”

Officials need to determine the size, appearance, and financial aspects of the project. Several public meetings have been held with the parking deck’s designers, but no one plan or design has been settled upon yet.

Public meetings about the project were held Oct. 2 and Monday. No meeting has been scheduled for the time being, Aronsohn said.
