Elizabeth Couple Welcomes Trinitas' First Baby Born Of 2019
An Elizabeth couple welcomed their second baby on New Year's Day, who was the first to be born at Trinitas Regional Medical Center for 2019.
ELIZABETH, NJ — The first baby of 2019 to be born at Trinitas Regional Medical Center was brought into this world by an Elizabeth couple at 1 p.m. on New Year's Day.
On Tuesday, Elizabeth residents Rosa Serrano De Orellana and Jose Alfredo arrived at Trinitas around 11:30 a.m. after Rosa started experiencing stronger contractions, which began at 5 a.m. that morning.
Rose was already 8 centimeters dilated and rushed to a labor room where she delivered naturally delivery.

At 1 p.m., Shanaya Recalde, Certified Nurse Midwife, helped deliver a 6-pound 13-ounce healthy baby boy, who is 19 ¾ inches long, with no pain medication. His name is Cristofer Orellana Serrano.
“We at Trinitas are super excited for them,” says Recalde. “They were extremely nice and very happy about the news that their baby was the first born in the New Year. And now their 4-year-old daughter has a baby brother.”
