• Springfield Prepares for Busy Roadwork Season Before the Winter Months (tapinto.net subscription) — Springfield is pushing to finish major road repairs on Ann Place, Linden Avenue, Wabeno Avenue, and Fieldstone Drive before winter sets in. Township Administrator John Bussiculo says contractors and utility companies are being closely managed, with strict curb‑to‑curb paving rules enforced on protected streets to ensure residents see lasting improvements, not patchwork fixes.
   

• Township Committee Agenda September 8, 2026 at 7 p.m. (springfieldpatriot.com) — Springfield's Township Committee meets Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. to vote on a $2.97 million bond for public improvements, cannabis business rules, towing licenses, and playground upgrades at Chisholm Park. The agenda also covers new laborer hires, police vehicle equipment, liquor license transfers on Morris Avenue and Route 22, and several community events and services residents can use this month.
   

• Bernknopf tosses five first-half TD passes to power Dayton past Bound Brook, 43-12 (cjsportsradio.com) — Dayton's football team gave Springfield fans plenty to cheer about Thursday night, rolling past Bound Brook 43–12 at home behind five first‑half touchdown passes from senior quarterback Adrian Bernknopf. With a running clock after halftime and reserves finishing the game, the Bulldogs secured their first win of the season in convincing fashion.
