A thief stole rims and tires worth $6,800 from a car in Summit, among August car thefts.
The Summit police have released details of car thefts and burglaries in August.
SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit police released details last week of numerous car thefts and burglaries in August, including a case in which someone stole $6,822 in rims and tires from a car.
That car owner may have been one of the lucky ones, as several other cars were taken, rims and all.

On Aug. 3, police took a report that someone stole a checkbook from the glove compartment of an unlocked car on Glendale Road. It had been taken since the previous day, the victim said.
On Aug. 6, a man said the rims and tires were stolen from his 2021 Infiniti Q50 parked overnight at a Morris Avenue business. The value of the rims and tires totaled at $6,822.40.

The same day, police took a report of a theft of a secured motor vehicle from a Broad Street business. The victim said a blue 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was taken overnight, valued at approximately $30,000.
On Aug. 12, someone reported a stolen black 2021 Nissan Altima that had been parked at a Hillcrest Avenue residence. The vehicle was valued at approximately $25,000.
On Aug. 13, someone said an unlocked black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was taken from a Prospect Street residence. The vehicle was valued at $21,000.
The same day, someone reported that a blue 2021 Infiniti Q50 worth $53,000 was stolen from a Morris Avenue business.
On Aug. 17, someone watched an unknown man enter and exit a vehicle parked in front of an Oakridge Avenue residence, they said. Nothing was taken.
On Aug. 24, someone said an unlocked black 2019 Porsche 911 was taken from a Bedford Road residence. The value of the vehicle wasn't provided at the time of the report, but similar cars sell for $100,000 or more.
