Victim's Son Charged In Toms River Office Park Murder: Report

A report says the juvenile charged in the killing of Margarita Diaz is her son.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The son of a Manchester woman who was killed in a Toms River office park is the juvenile charged with her murder, according to a report.

The Asbury Park Press reported the juvenile who was arrested is the 17-year-old son of Margarita Diaz, citing multiple unnamed sources.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday would not confirm or refute the information.

"We can't release any further information the Diaz case as the defendant is a juvenile," a spokesman for the prosecutor's office said in an emailed response.

Margarita Diaz, 44, of Manchester, died Aug. 7 after she was assaulted at the Deer Chase Professional Park on Route 37 west, authorities said. She was found unresponsive when police were called at 8:42 p.m. Attempts were made to save her life, but she was pronounced dead at Community Medical Center.

The prosecutor's office on Tuesday said the person charged in the killing was a juvenile and is being held at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center. The charges include murder and possession of a knife.
