Mom Who Abducted Son From Green Brook Home Pleads Guilty: Report

The East Brunswick mom violated a court order when she broke into two homes recently in February.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — An East Brunswick mother who abducted her son from his grandmother’s home in Green Brook plead guilty to violating probation on Monday in Somerset County Superior Court, according to nj.com.

As a result of violating her probation, she is facing a five-year state prison sentence.

Amy Streko, 34, of East Brunswick and her husband Michael Streko, 34 had kidnapped their 8-year-old son Everett on July 17, 2015 from his grandmother’s house in Green Brook, violating a court custody order.

The parents were arrested July 25, 2015 after Michael, asked other children for “drugs” in Port Jervis, N.Y.

Both pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree interference with the custody of a minor child and were sentenced to five years of probation on Nov. 20, 2015.

However, last month Amy Streko was charged with breaking into two homes on Milltown Road and Herbert Drive in East Brunswick while the owners were away, violating her probation.

Amy Streko had been in drug court as part of her probation but tested positive for drugs on Jan. 28 where she was then required to stay in a halfway house. But she left the facility and is now facing termination from drug court and re-sentencing on her original charge of second-degree taking and detaining a minor, according to nj.com.

Sentencing for Amy Streko is set for April 3 where a judge can either sentence her to five years or readmit her to drug court.
