William 'Bill' Thomson Recognized as State VFW Commander

Washington Township Mayor Janet Sobkowicz and council members recognized William "Bill" Thomson at the council meeting April 25 for being named the New Jersey State VFW Commander and for his service to the township and his country.

Thomson, who has been a resident of the township for more than 20 years, has served as a member of the township's Zoning Board of Adjustment. He was a Republican committee member for the sixth district, he served as a marine in Vietnam from November 1968 to November 1969 and he served as the commander of the local VFW several times.

Sobkowicz congratulated Thomson on his success. "We're very happy and proud when people from the township move up to offices on other levels," she added.
