Blue Acres Funding Up for Discussion by Westwood Council

Members of the Westwood governing body first discussed the funding at the last meeting

Westwood officials are expected to continue discussions about Blue Acres funding at the council meeting Tuesday night. Blue Acres money is available for homeowners with houses on a flood plain that wish to sell.

At the last meeting, members of the governing body and came to a consensus that they wouldn't oppose an individual application for Blue Acres funding. Mayor John Birkner Jr. had assigned others to investigate the Blue Acres program further to see if council members wanted to pursue the second type of application, which involves more action from the borough.

Residents affected by flooding who have banded together and hired a lawyer are expected to attend the council meeting Tuesday.
