Borough and Township to Receive Anti-Litter Grants
More than $14 million in Clean Communities Grants were handed out eligible municipalities

Both Westwood and Washington Township will receive money from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in the form of Clean Communities grants. Westwood will get $17,145.71 while the township will be awarded $14,609.92.
According to the DEP, Bergen County was one of the top recipients in the state, receiving $116,019 in total. Throughout the state, $14 million was awarded to 559 eligible municipalities.
The grant money is meant to fund events like cleanups of public property and public education programs. The money can also be spent on equipment to collect litter, garbage and recycling bins, anti-litter signs, supplies to remove graffiti and more.

"This grant program is a perfect example of state and local partnerships working together to maximize the use of limited resources to address environmental issues," DEP Commissioner Bob Martin said. "Cleaning up litter protects our natural resources, improves our quality of life and builds a strong sense of pride in our communities. These grants provide our municipalities and counties the tools they need to accomplish these goals."
