Westwood teams played Upper Saddle River in two games, and left with a split
Two Westwood Softball teams played two teams from Upper Saddle River recently, but with very different results.
The 3/4 team dubbed "Big Blue" played shorthanded (only nine players) but came away with an 11-3 win.

Meanwhile... The DiCuffa 5/6 team (aka The Red Hots) kept it close early against a hard-hitting Upper Saddle River squad, trailing 2-1 after two innings. However, the powerful USR bats exploded for seven runs in each of the third and fourth innings, before scoring three more in the fifth to win by mercy rule (final: 19-4). The DiCuffa team was short-handed, without one of its top pitchers, and it seemed each of the three USR pitchers threw harder than the one before.
Star of the game for Westwood: Kiki L (double and single, scored one run, one stolen base, two nice fielding plays from third base)
