5/6 Red Hots Are Just That: Red Hot!

The 5/6 DiCuffa "Red Hots" went on the road and beat Montvale 15-8 on Friday night (May 13). Excellent pitching from Tina F and Sam L, along with a solid two innings from Ally D.
Tina F led the hitting attack with three hits and three RBI, including a blast to left field for a two-run home run. Sam L also drove in three runs, including a two-run double, and Kiki L and Ella R contributed run-scoring base hits.

The Red Hots were strong defensively, including nice plays by Ella R, Sam L, Ally D, Tina F, Melanie S and Kayla C.

The next day, the "Red Hots" continued their winning ways, battling back from a 2-0 deficit with four runs in the fourth to defeat Park Ridge 5-2 at Westvale Park in Westwood. Tina F and Sam L combined to throw six innings of four-hit ball, allowing only three walks (an impressive feat for this age group!). The Red Hots also sparkled in the field, with nice plays by Kayla C, Melanie S, Kiki L, Mackenzie P, Annaliese G, Ally D, Sam L and Tina F. Tina F tied the game in the fourth with a two-run single and Taylor T and Martyne M both plated runs by drawing bases-loaded walks. Annaliese G drove in Hailey V with an insurance run in the fifth with an RBI single. Everyone contributed to a nice win, with Molly D and Sara K also contributing both run-scoring rallies.

This winning train was derailed by rain this week, but the DiCuffa team is looking forward to clear skies (and dry fields) and to getting back on the diamond.
