All I want for Christmas ......

A Westwood Public Library, the best gift ever.

All I want for Christmas.....is for everyone in Westwood to get their library card. Seriously.   It's what I really want.  I know I am the Director of the Library and so it's my business to advocate for the Library and promote it.  But, that's where I'm lucky.  My job and what I truly believe are one and the same.  The Library is really a tremendous perk for living in Westwood.  It gives you access to millions of books and CDs and DVDs.  I mean really, anything you want to read, listen or view can be gotten from the Library.  The Westwood Library  gives you all kinds of programs, concerts, classes, too.  And, for absolutely free, it's also a place to go, connect with others in town or sit quietly, browse the stacks, and just think.  And yet, curiously, not everyone has their card. That makes me a bit worried given all the news about budget cuts. It would seem that now, more than ever, a strong library is needed.  Sharing resources is key in today's economy and that is, in fact, what the library is all about.  If you don't need the library yourself, and of course, I would argue that even the most comfortable of you need the library, then get your card and keep it active for the sake of the rest of your community.  The Westwood Library connects.  It connects you to the internet, it connects you to books and other materials, but most importantly, because it is open to all, and through it's many programs and services, it connects you to each other, and that is without question, all good.If you don't have your card already, give yourself a gift, and come to the Library and get your card. (You will be giving me what I want, too!)
