Dicuffa 5/6 Continues to Win

The DiCuffa 5/6 "Red Hots" have won four games in a row.

On Saturday, May 21, the team came from behind for a thrilling 9-6 road victory over Montvale. Trailing 5-2 after three innings, the Red Hots' bats exploded for four runs in the fourth. Kiki L, Ally D, Sara K and Annaliese G led the rally with run-scoring base hits. Montvale came right back and tied the game at 6, before Taylor T drove in Hailey V for the go-ahead run in the fifth. Sam L and Sara K finished off the 16-hit assault with RBI singles in the sixth for the final margin of victory.

Sam L was outstanding again on the mound, pitching three shutout innings and allowing only two hits. Hitting stars of the game were Kiki L (3-for-3), Ally D (3-for-3), Sara K (2-for-3) and Sam L (2-for-2). The defense sparkled early and late for the Red Hots, led by nice plays by Sam L, Kiki L, Ally D, Tina F, Sara K and Kayla C. The defensive highlight was a diving catch by Annaliese G with the bases loaded to end the first.

On Tuesday, May 24, the "Red Hots" defeated Washington Township 10-2 (four innings, due to time limit reached).

Pitching was the story of this game, as Tina F, Kristina L and Kayla C combined to pitch two-hit ball, allowing only three walks. Defense continued to sparkle, with solid plays by Tina F, Ally D, Sam L, Melanie S, Kiki L, Taylor T, Kayla C and Hailey V. Sam L sparked the offense with a two-run double to lead the way in a seven-run third inning. Ally D (RBI single), Tina F and Taylor T (single and RBI each), Annaliese G (two RBI walks) and Kayla C (RBI walk) also contributed to the 10-run attack.

Everyone is contributing. The Red Hots improved to 5-3 on the season.
