The DiCuffa 5/6 "Red Hots" saw their four-game winning streak wither away in the heat, dropping a 9-2 game to Oradell on June 1.
The 90-plus degree weather and eight-day layoff was too much for the DiCuffa squad to overcome, as the team's usually reliable defense faltered. There were some positives, though, including solid pitching from Tina F (two innings, one run) and Ally D (one inning, zero runs), and nice defensive plays by Taylor T, Ally D, Annaliese G, Tina F, Kiki L, Molly M, Sara K and Kayla C. Hitting star of the game was Martyne M, with two RBI singles.
Three days later, the "Red Hots" struggled once again on the road, losing 15-5 to Upper Saddle River.

Bright spots included three doubles on offense (Sam L, Taylor T and Tina F), three combined innings of one-run pitching from Tina F and Ally D and five putouts at second base by Taylor T. Kiki L, Tina F, Sam L and Annaliese G also contributed nice plays on defense.
The Red Hots dropped to 5-5 on the season with their second straight loss. The team remains optimistic and excited as the season quickly draws to a close.
