Red Hots Rally From Early Deficit

DiCuffa 5/6 rallies to winning record

The DiCuffa 5/6 "Red Hots" dug themselves out of another hole, overcoming an early four-run deficit to defeat Oradell 7-5 on Friday night at Westvale Park.

After Oradell took a 4-0 lead in the first, the Red Hots chipped away with a run in the first (Sam L drove in Martyne M with an RBI groundout) and two more in the fourth (Kayla C and Taylor T scored when Taylor's dribbler in front of the plate turned into an error-aided "inside the pitcher's mound" home run). Oradell tacked on another run in the fifth to make it 5-3. But four walks led to four runs for Westwood in their half of the fifth, with Ally D driving in a run with a single and Ella R and Isabel C contributing RBI groundouts.

Excellent defense over the last three innings, which was highlighted by two good plays at second base by Sara K in the last inning. Sam L, Taylor T, Kiki L, Kaya C, Mackenzie P, Ally D and Ella R also contributed nice plays in the field. Solid pitching from Tina F, Sam L and Kristina L held down the Oradell attack.
