Westwood Coaches Seek Donations for Annual Charity Softball Game

Westwood Softball Coaches to Play 3rd Annual Charity Game to Raise Funds for Scholarship Fund

The coaches of the Westwood Softball Association will play a third annual charity softball game on Saturday, June 23 to benefit the Sunday Stankowitz Memorial Scholarship Fund.  The game will be played at 5 PM at Westvale Park, on Harrington Avenue in Westwood (near Sand Road).

Last year’s game raised over $8,000 for the scholarship fund, which is administered by the Westwood Board of Education, with scholarship awarded to Westwood High School seniors who will be pursuing careers in education.

Once again, those playing in the game will be coached and managed by their own players, the girls who play Westwood softball.  All coaches pay an entry fee to play, and further proceeds come from 50/50 sales, prize donations, and refreshment sales.  Mayor John Birkner, Jr. will once again serve as guest umpire.
