County Freeholders Honor Westwood Student for Saving His Mother's Life
Ramin Eshaghi received a plaque commending his heroic actions
Sixth-grader Ramin Eshaghi of Westwood has become somewhat of a celebrity since he performed the Heimlich maneuver on his mother who was choking on almonds. He has appeared in several news stories online, in print and on television. He received more recognition Wednesday night from the Bergen County Freeholders.
Eshaghi, who attends , and teacher Gina Vintalore both received certificates of recognition from Freeholder Chairman John Driscoll, Jr. Eshaghi had learned about the Heimlich maneuver from Vintalore in school the same day his mother choked.
Driscoll started relaying the story of Eshaghi's heroic actions for the crowd, but decided to let Eshaghi tell the story himself. Watch the video to hear what he had to say.
