CrossFit Ignite Hosts 'Biggest Loser' Style Competition
Support, generosity and great workouts help burn off pounds at one of Westwood's fitness centers
What began as a casual wager between a few friends has turned into an exciting eight-week weight loss challenge.
is the welcoming host to the collection of 50 women who have come together with the intention of losing weight and getting healthy while making charitable donations to two important causes. Their efforts will raise funds for the American Cancer Society and they are donating non-perishable food items (on the last day of the weigh-in) to the food bank at in Westwood. There is also a monetary prize for the woman who loses the most weight.
The 50 participants are remarkably diverse and hail from all walks of life. Comprised of a variety of ages and body types, each is at her own unique level of fitness. Yet regardless of their differences, this committed crew has banded together to reach their weight loss goals.

CrossFit Ignite has extended both its facilities to help the women, whether they are members or not, succeed in their arduous journey, which began March 14 and will conclude May 14.
CrossFit Ignite is homed in a large, loft-like space at 701 Broadway in Westwood, located directly behind . There are no sweeping awnings or glitzy signs. In fact, if you're not specifically looking for Ignite, it is unlikely you'll happen onto it by chance.

Co-owners Steve Macioci and Tina Harris pride themselves on the family-like environment and ceaseless encouragement offered to members. At any given exercise session, everyone seems to be on the same page; they are there to work hard and help each other succeed. It's all about the work, and each other.
To boost morale during the "Biggest Loser" type event, CrossFit Ignite is providing space on its website to a blog solely devoted to comments, questions and encouragement for the women. Recently the blog prompted: "So your first workout is over....How do you feel? How did you do? Any questions? TALK!"
In addition to this open dialogue as they progress through their journey, the "Biggest Losers" receive frequent motivational e-mails from CrossFit Ignite, with tips about nutrition and exercise.
Non-members in the competition are being offered free workouts each Saturday during the entire eight-week event, as well as a free month off a three-month membership. They also get free yoga twice a week and a free kettleball class on Sunday.
The next Biggest Loser Challenge will begin April 4 and will run 10 weeks.
