Deputy Clerk Ordinance on Township Council Agenda

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday

Washington Township councilmen are expected to vote whether or not to introduce an ordinance Monday that would make the position of deputy clerk full time.

At the council meeting last week, to give the administration more time to increase the deputy clerk's weekly hours. Councilmen put enough money in the budget for the deputy clerk to work 25 hours per week, 10 more than she currently has.

But Mayor Janet Sobkowicz said last week that increasing her hours as deputy clerk could cost the township additional money in benefits since she is also serving as the acting secretary for the Planning and Zoning boards. According to officials, any employee who works 30 hours per week or more is entitled to benefits.
