Traveling the African American Experience in the Lower Hudson Valley

On Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. join us for this New York Council for the Humanities event with urban anthropologist Dr. Sherrill Wilson. This slide presentation focuses on the people, places and events that highlight the history of the Africans presence in 17th century NYC. NYC's role as a major port was instrumental in this business of selling human beings under both Dutch and British occupation. These Africans were paramount to the design of our region. Locations such as the Slave Market at Wall Street, the National Monument NY African Burial Ground, Seneca Village, and Harlem, USA all document the stories of Africans who helped to build NYC. Space is limited, so please pre-register online at http://bit.ly/105N2mX  or call 359-3877 for more info.
