Firefighters Extinguish Blaze in Westwood Home

The fire started in the home's bathroom Sunday morning.

Westwood firefighters extinguished a blaze in a Stratton Avenue home Sunday morning.

The fire was accidentally started by a man doing some plumbing work with a blowtorch, according to Fire Chief Jaymee Hodges. Insulation and framing in a bathroom wall ignited, and the man called the fire department.

Westwood firefighters, along with a team from Woodcliff Lake, got in the wall with water cannons and knocked down the fire as it was spreading up toward the home's attic.
