Update: Bomb Threat "Not Credible" According to School Officials

Westwood Jr./Sr. High School was evacuated after a message found in a bathroom claimed there was a bomb in a locker somewhere in the school.

The Bergen County K-9 Unit was called in to searchTuesday after a message claiming there was a bomb in the school was found in a boys bathroom.

The pen-written note, which was written on a mirror frame in the bathroom, said there was a "bomb in locker" according to Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller. A student reported the message to an administrator, who contacted Washington Township Police. The school was evacuated at about 11 a.m. while the building was searched by county police and sheriff's office K-9 units.

Principal Thomas Gorman said the threat was no longer considered "credible," no bomb had been found and students had returned to class at about 12:10 p.m.

Gorman said students only missed about one class period and thanked police for their fast response time.

Washington Township Police confirmed the school had been evacuated but could not yet provide any other details, saying the investigation was still in progress. District officials said they would also be perfoming their own investigation and coordinating with police.
