Live Music: Tony Rivera Flamenco-Blues

Tony Rivera, Professional Flamenco-Blues Guitarist & Singer

Flamenco-Blues Guitarist Tony Rivera will perform in the 2015 St. John’s Arts Festival on Sunday, June 14 at 2:00 pm! A St. John’s liturgical guitarist/ singer, Rivera will perform traditional church music, Flamenco Guitar, & music by Train, Crosby Stills & Nash, Zeppelen. Guest singers Jillian Turner, Mary Kate Buckman, & Lisa Gordon will perform with Mr. Rivera, who hopes to bring a combination of Sacred, Flamenco & Contemporary songs to life through a combination of traditional & Flamenco guitar playing.

Rivera is an accomplished Flamenco guitarist who studied under the tutelage of guitar legends Dennis Koster, Emilio Prados, Mario Escudero and Juan Orozco. Tony is a graduate of both the Juan Orozco School of Flamenco Guitar and the American Institute of Guitar. Rivera cultivated his own style of music, Flamenco Blues, combining the best of New Orleans and Chicago Blues with the bold flavor of Flamenco guitar playing. He has re-created classic rock songs & composed original pieces, infusing each with its own unique Flamenco-Blues style that stirs intense emotions in his audiences. In addition to being a liturgical guitarist, Rivera teaches guitar, bass, & piano to students of all ages & performs throughout the tri-state area.
