Minor Fire At Deluxe Auto Polishing Tuesday
The fire was contained to the attic and knocked out in a few minutes, fire officials said.

Firefighters knocked down a minor fire that started in the attic of a Broadway Avenue car wash Tuesday morning.
The 7:20 a.m. fire at Deluxe Auto Polishing, a recently-opened business at 665 Broadway, was put out in a few minutes, fire officials said. There were no injuries.
“It was a small fire contained to the attic area,” Westwood Fire Marshal Darren Blankenbush said. “The owner smelled something burning and made some attempts at putting it out with a fire extinguisher.”

The Fire Department was on the scene within six minutes of the call, Blankenbush said.
“It was another one of those where timing was right, that people were there,” he said. “It’s an older building that isn’t required to have a modern state of the art fire prevention system, so it was good that they were there.”

Blankenbush said the fire was caused by a shorted out wire that set one of the rafters on fire in the attic.
