Pascack Valley residents taking mass transit to the People's Climate March on 9/21/14--sure to be the largest climate event in history.

Pascack Valley residents urged to ride train, bus or ferry to the People’s Climate March on September 21st
Pascack Valley, NJ--Pascack Valley residents who are headed to the People’s Climate March in New York City on September, 21st, 2014 are urged to travel together using mass transit. Up to 10,000 New Jerseyans are expected to march and join tens of thousands of people from all over the U.S.

The People’s Climate March is a 2 to 3-mile, family-friendly march through midtown Manhattan, organized by more than 1,100 community, faith-group, civic and labor organizations. The March is a response to the UN Climate Summit called by Ban-Ki Moon in order to prepare for reaching a global climate deal and developing emission reduction commitments. The March will commence at Columbus Circle at 11:30 a.m. and end at 11th Avenue at 34th street approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours later. More than 25 designated charter buses, trains and ferries will people across the Hudson, many at a reduced fare.Travelers are urged to purchase their tickets in advance at: http://peoplesclimatemarch.org/transportation. The dedicated NJ Transit Pascack Valley Line #2014 departs from Montvale, NJ at 8:15 a.m. making stops along the Pascack Valley line. Marchers will meet on the platforms carrying signs. After a change in Secaucus Junction at 9:18 a.m. the train will arrive in New York at 9:33 a.m. giving ample time to reach the meetup point for New Jersey marchers at W83rd Street and Central Park West.

“By marching on September 21st, we are saying ‘Yes’ we are willing to find a solution to the climate crisis,” says Rosemary Dreger Carey, Pascack Sustainability Group founder and a 350NJ organizer for the March. “It is important that New Jerseyans show up in force to tell world leaders what we are for -- that is, energy conservation, a smart, resilient infrastructure, and clean, renewable energy, especially off-shore wind that New Jersey can offer in abundant supply.”
