Salute to Veterans, New Police Officer to be Sworn in Tuesday

Westwood council members are also expected to discuss a dispatch study

Westwood officials plan to recognize borough residents who are Vietnam War veterans during the council meeting Tuesday night as part of a Veterans Day salute.

A new police officer is also expected to be sworn in during the council meeting Tuesday.

In addition to those events, council members are expected to discuss a study for dispatch services. The borough has been investigating using the county dispatch service, run out of Mahwah, with Washington Township and Hillsdale. Officials are also looking into a Pascack Valley dispatch service that would be run out of the former Old Tappan police headquarters.

There will likely also be an update on the engineering study officials authorized to see if there are ways to alleviate area flooding.

The Westwood council meeting is scheduled to begin Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the , 101 Washington Ave.
