College hosts 2nd Annual Sustainability Day events on October 2, 2014.

9:50 a.m. Dr. Klaus H. Jacob, geophysicist and emeritus research professor at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Presentation will focus on “Climate Change, Sea Level Rise and Sustainability of Cities and Communities along Coasts and Estuaries” and will show examples of how various coastal communities are trying to address this new challenge.

11:25 a.m.
C. Scott Vanderhoef, environmental attorney and adjunct professor and the former Rockland County Executive, at 11:25 a.m. Presentation topic will be “What are the competing perspectives regarding climate change? How does it translate into government, political and personal action?”

1:00 p.m.
Bruce Taterka, environmental educator, researcher, consultant, and attorney.
Presentation on his experiences on the North Slope of Alaska as part of the PolarTREC (Teachers and Researchers Collaborating) project, as well as demonstrating hands-on activities to teach climate change and particularly melting permafrost to K-12 students.
