Township Councilmen to Discuss Consolidation/Merger Feasibility Study
The council has a special meeting scheduled for Wednesday night

Members of the Washington Township council will meet Wednesday night to discuss a request for proposal and resolution about a consolidation/merger feasibility study.
The special public meeting has been called solely for the purpose of discussing that one issue. The Bergen County Prosecutor's office has grant money available for municipalities who choose to participate in a feasibility study about consolidating and merging services. In Washington Township, officials have been investigating shared services for police dispatch service.
At a council meeting in early October, officials , operated out of the Mahwah facility. Officials had also investigated using Northwest, which is run out of Ridgewood.

Mayor Janet Sobkowicz that would include six local municipalities. Area police chiefs have been discussing ways to use the former Old Tappan police headquarters as a dispatch center for Emerson, Hillsdale, Old Tappan, River Vale, Washington Township and Westwood.
The special meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the courtroom of the , 350 Hudson Ave.
