The company needs approval from the township government to proceed with soil tests.

Verizon submitted preliminary plans Monday for a cell phone tower to be built at the Washington Township , according to Township Attorney Kenneth Poller.
The plans include a 120-foot-tall monopole tower with external antennas, similar to the tower by the Parkway, to be built on the north side of the complex. Verizon needs approval for the monopole design to continue with soil tests for the site.
According to Poller, the tower could have had internal antennas, but that would require it to be taller. The council approved an ordinance in December, after previously discussing Councilman Joseph D'Urso said that a tower resembling a tree would have required a crane to visit the site every three months for maintenance.
