Washington Council Passes Cell Tower Height Ordinance
Cell phone antennas can be no taller than 125 feet in the township.

The Washington Township Council approved an ordinance at their meeting Monday which restricts antennas, such as the proposed Verizon cell phone tower, to a height of 125 feet.
The council had previously considered capping the tower at and put off voting on the ordinance several times this year , but Township Attorney Kenneth Poller said at the meeting that cell phone company experts believed the 125-foot height would be sufficient.
NorthJersey.com reported last week that the township had decided on the north side of the as the location for the tower, though officials said Monday that construction will have to wait until soil tests are completed.

Township officials that the tower will provide both revenue for the township and better phone reception for residents.
