Washington Township Incumbents Will Continue Work on Council
Republicans Glenn Beckmeyer, Steve Cascio and Richard Hrbek retain their seats in an uncontested election
Sitting Republican councilmen Glenn Beckmeyer, Steve Cascio and Richard Hrbek will retain their seats after an uncontested election Tuesday.
Beckmeyer received 948 votes, current Vice President Cascio got 878 and Hrbek received 990, according to the unofficial results. Each councilman will remain a member of the governing body for three more years.
Hrbek is a lifelong township resident who has been a member of the Washington Township council for more than eight years. Before the election, he said he wanted to work toward resolving many of the issues.

"I hope to provide the leadership necessary to build consensus that is required to move forward on resolving the issues," Hrbek said. "My engineering training helps me to properly evaluate all options to the major issues."
Beckmeyer and Cascio both ran unopposed last year for one-year unexpired terms.

Washington Township voters supported Republicans across the board in the general election Tuesday. They chose Republican incumbent Robert Schroeder for Assembly, a township resident, along with his running mate Holly Schepisi. The pair ran against Democratic challengers Anthony Iannarelli Jr. and Michael McCarthy as well as Independent challenger Clinton Bosca.
For State Senate, township voters chose Republican Gerald Cardinale to retain his seat over Democratic challenger Lorraine Waldes.
In the race for County Clerk, voters in Washington Township favored Republican Elizabeth Randall to Democrat John Hogan. For Surrogate, they chose Republican Andrew Cimiluca over incumbent Democrat Michael Dressler.
Washington Township voters also approved the ballot question that would legalize sports betting at casinos, racetracks and former racetrack sites. According to unofficial results, 707 voted yes while 565 voted no.
