Westwood Regional Schools Closed Tuesday

Power outages are blamed for the closing

Students who attend Westwood Regional School District schools will have another day off Tuesday because of lingering power outages in the area.

Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller released a statement Monday night that half the district schools remain without power and heat, so they must be closed Tuesday. All after school and night activities are also canceled. No decision about Wednesday has been made yet.

As of 6:50 p.m., Zion Lutheran School in Westwood and Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township had not canceled classes.

Downed trees and wires are still commonplace throughout the area and police warn residents to use caution when traveling outside. To help cope with the cold, Washington Township has opened a warming center at the Jack Woods Senior Center in the , 350 Hudson Ave.
