Westwood Zoning Board Members Allow Two-Family Lake Street Home to Continue

The Zoning Board also announced new business to be discussed next month

The Westwood Zoning Board Meeting Monday night moved along at a quick clip, as much of the business on the agenda was going over vouchers, correspondence and memorializing a resolution. All votes taken on the part of the seven board members in attendance were unanimously in favor.

New business was announced, which will be handled at the next regularly scheduled public hearing on May 2. This included a variance requested by Irrelevant Elephant on Westwood Avenue; a variance for Bell’s Little Learners on Center Avenue; a variance for a home on James Street and a certificate of non-conformity for a house on Fairview Avenue.

Carrie Ann Hinsdale, of Lake Street, and her attorney came to the meeting to request a Certificate of Non-Conformity for the two-family home she owns. It was noted that the home had always been a two-family, having two electric and two gas meters. Board Chairman William Martin noted that the home had been listed as a two-family back in the 1940s, pre-dating the zoning change that was the cause for the request.

Zoning Board members voted unanimously to grant the certificate.

The second applicant on the docket, relating to a Certification of Non-Conformity for a Prospect Avenue property, was a no-show.

Following a brief update about the Planning Board’s work on updating the Master Plan, and efforts on the part of the zoning officer and the borough clerk to list the Zoning Board members and their certifications, the meeting was adjourned.

The next Zoning Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 2.
