Your Legislators: Cardinale Introduces Bill for Group Health Insurance
The bill would enable all small employers, even sole proprietors, to qualify for Group Health Insurance and more favorable rates

Last week, Sen. Gerald Cardinale (R-39) and Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-22) introduced a new bill, S2874 which would enable all small employers, even sole proprietors, to qualify for Group Health Insurance and more favorable rates.Â
Supported by the New Jersey Chambers of Commerce, the bipartisan sponsored bill has been referred to the Senate Commerce Committee for review. No date has been set at this time for a discussion on S2874.
If the bill passes, all 231 chambers across the state could form one, enormous Chamber of Commerce purchasing alliance and, as such, be eligible for group rates.

A second bill sponsored by Cardinale is awaiting its turn for review by the Senate Environment and Energy Committee. S54 would change the restrictions on certain county or municipal stream cleaning activities.

Currently cleaning projects are restricted when it comes to sediment removal activities to stream corridors of less than 500 feet in length. Cardinale's bill proposes that there would not be any limit on the reach of a stream and extend the average width of a stream bed project from 15 feet to 50 feet.
According to a copy of the bill, approval is necessary to allow municipalities and counties to properly, quickly and economically clean and de-silt streams to help prevent serious flooding that may cause personal injury and property damage.
