'Mr. Wawa,' 3 Others Killed In New Jersey Fatal Crashes
It's been a horrific week on the roads: The fatal victims included a well-loved dad known as "Mr. Wawa," and a 98-year-old man.

One victim was known as "Mr. Wawa." A gentle giant, and a father, he was never pretentious or mean. Another, a woman, and a mother, would talk to anybody who wanted to talk.
In yet another tragic case this week, the victim was 98 years old. He was killed by a car driven by a 95-year-old woman.
It has been a horrific week so far on New Jersey roads. Four people have been killed in crashes, two of them head-on. And in one non-fatal accident, a drunk driver survived after he drove across a Chatham Township front lawn and hit a car parked in a driveway, police said. Read more here...

Here are the fatal crashes that have happened this week:
- Two were killed in a head-on crash in South Jersey on Sunday, police said. More details were revealed Tuesday about a horrible accident that left friends and family grief-stricken. Thomas Hughes, aka "Mr. Wawa," and Michelle Wolf were pronounced dead at the scene in Maurice River Township, police said. Wolf's sister, Jessica Wolf, told nj.com that Michelle was outgoing, "funny and the life of the party." A GoFundMe page, meanwhile, that was set up for Hughes notes that he worked at Wawa and always managed to make people smile. The page called him "Mr. Wawa Tum Tum." "He was always full of life and making people around him smile. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back." Read more here...
- A Budd Lake woman was killed in an early morning car crash in Mount Olive on Tuesday, Mount Olive police said. According to police, Yvonne Riporti-Lombardo drove through a stop sign at the Bartley and River Road intersection. Her 2006 Honda Civic crossed into another lane and was struck by a 2015 Ford Explorer, driven by Melissa Benbrook, 36, of Long Valley. Read more here...
- A 95-year-old woman accidentally ran over a 98-year-old man, killing him, Tuesday afternoon in a Woodbridge Township 55+ adult community. The accident happened Tuesday at the Woodbridge Hills 55+ adult rental complex in Iselin. Read more here...
