WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge Twp. Business Administrator Vito Cimilluca will retire effective April 30, Mayor John McCormac announced Tuesday.

Cimilluca concludes a 43-year career as Woodbridge's business administrator.

Cimilluca had a humble start to his career in municipal government: He started as an entry-level employee in Woodbridge's Department of Public Works (DPW) in 1983. But he rose through the DPW ranks by working on implementing public services, maintaining Township infrastructure, buildings and grounds and service equipment.

"Vito Cimilluca represents the very best of Woodbridge Township through his advocacy and pursuit of excellence on behalf of the entire Woodbridge Township community,” said McCormac. “Vito has served the residents of Woodbridge in multiple capacities starting in an entry-level job in Public Works and finishing with the top job in the town reporting directly to the Mayor. Every step of the way he has excelled so much that he was promoted time and time again. He will be sorely missed as a leader, co-worker and friend who has done an absolutely phenomenal job as our Business Administrator. Everyone in town owes him a debt of gratitude for his performance and service.”

Cimilluci was named the town's Business Administrator in 2019. Being the business administrator of a big town like Woodbridge is a big job: He was responsible for the management of 14 departments in town, with a workforce of over 1,500 full and part-time employees. As BA, Cimilluca managed a $230-million annual operating budget, administered the Township’s personnel program, including a $30 million heath benefits plan, and exercised oversight of municipal government operations and services delivered to more than 103,000 residents (Woodbridge is the seventh largest town in the state).

In 2024, Cimilluca was appointed to the New Jersey Council on Local Mandates by New Jersey Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin.

“Throughout my career, I had the privilege of serving in several different departments within the Township – Department of Public Works, Woodbridge Police Department, Department of Recreation and Business Administrator. Each role allowed me to work alongside truly exceptional people - colleagues who became mentors, teammates and lifelong friends,” said Cimilluca. “Leadership transitions are never easy, but they are a natural and necessary part of public service. They allow organizations to grow while maintaining the strength and stability our residents deserve. I am especially grateful for the trust and confidence placed in me by Mayor John E. McCormac, who appointed me to the position of Business Administrator more than six years ago. Working alongside such a thoughtful communicator and forward-thinking leader has been an honor and has given me the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and collaborate with outstanding individuals both within our Township and across the state. I leave this role with immense pride, appreciation and gratitude for the community and people who have meant so much to me throughout my career.”

Cimilluca is a classic Corvette enthusiast and is currently Chairman-Elect and a member of the board of directors of the National Corvette Museum, located in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
