Primary Election 2022: Who's On The Ballot In Bergen County

Bergen County voters will head to the polls June 7 to cast their ballots in NJ's 2022 primary election. The deadline to register is May 17.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Bergen County voters will head to the polls on June 7 to cast their ballots in New Jersey's 2022 primary election.

Some of our Patch communities have local municipal elections, while others do not. Many residents will vote for a candidate to represent them in Washington or at the county level. Our candidate lists are below.

Two Republican challengers are looking to unseat Bergen County Executive James Tedesco III, and six GOP candidates are on the ballot to take one of the Board of County Commissioners seats currently occupied by a Democrat.

Republican William "Billy" Prempeh will once again seek to unseat Democrat Bill Pascrell Jr. to represent New Jersey's 9th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. And five Republicans have filed to challenge incumbent Representative Joshua S. Gottheimer, a Democrat, in the 5th district.

New Jersey has a closed primary system, which means you must be a member of a particular party to vote in that party's primary. Voters who are registered but unaffiliated with any party can vote in the primary by declaring a party affiliation at the polls.

The deadline to register to be eligible to vote in the primary is May 17. Voters can cast a ballot in New Jersey's primaries: vote-by-mail, in-person early voting and in-person voting on Primary Election day.

Provisional ballots will be available at the polling location in the event that the mail-in-ballots were not received and the registered voter would like to vote in this election.
