Ramapo Boys Fencing Unveils Schedule
Team's dual meets get underway this December against Nyack and Fair Lawn.

The Olympics have likely brought fencing back to the minds of every one who may have let baseball and basketball takeover in these last few months.
Coach Paul Apostol, who has begun to rouse the high school fencers from their summertime reverie, the summer games were more than entertainment — they were a learning experience.
"Did you watch the fencing at the Olympics? If not, go to NBC.com, click on Olympic coverage, then fencing, then your weapon, and you can see replays of all the matches," Apostol wrote in an email. "Fencing is always evolving and I saw a lot of techniques that are new which I will incorporate into my own fencing and teach to our team members. Please watch the videos and learn."

Fencers even have tournaments lined up for the December break and during the February break.
"All fencers and their parents receiving this email know that membership on a winter sport requires you to participate in practices and competitions during these breaks," Apostol wrote. "I expect all fencers to be there during these periods."
Apostol said that many of team members attended summer camp and fenced in competitions this summer and all team captains will have joined clubs before the start of the season.
"I am really excited about our prospects for next year," he said.
While the coach is still recovering from a May rotator cuff surgery and and a total hip replacement surgery in mid July, he said everything looks good and his goal is to start practicing in early October and to be ready to compete in the December North American Cup.
"I will definitely be ready to work with the team when we start official practice on November 26," Apostol said.
