Should Teacher Tenure Be Based on Students' Test Scores?
Acting Education Commissoner Christopher Cerf announced proposals to change teacher evaluations and tenure approval

The state's plan was revealed Wednesday and it would revamp tenure for teachers, requiring them to meet a set of performance standards or face the loss of their tenure after two bad evaluations.
Teachers would be granted tenure after three consecutive ratings of effective or highly effective. Fifty percent of the evaluation would be based solely on the standardized test scores of the teacher's students from that year.
