• Volunteers clean up Albuquerque ahead of Balloon Fiesta (kob.com) — Albuquerque crews and volunteers just wrapped up the city's biggest fall cleanup to get Balloon Fiesta Park and surrounding neighborhoods ready for next weekend's festivities. With more than 25 neighborhood cleanups and a goal of collecting up to 10 tons of trash, the effort also included building a bike valet to ease traffic, cut emissions, and give residents another way to reach the park.
   

• Timothy Busfield asks judge to dismiss criminal sexual contact indictment (news-usa.today) — An Albuquerque judge is weighing whether to dismiss director Timothy Busfield's indictment on charges of criminal sexual contact involving two children on a local TV production set. At a recent Second Judicial District Court hearing, defense attorneys argued prosecutors showed bias and withheld witnesses from the grand jury, while the state countered that the defense tried to add witnesses too late, with a ruling expected by October 16.
   

• Amanda Lovato, Randee Lynn Morales set for Albuquerque boxing rematch (abqjournal.com subscription) — Albuquerque fight fans get a hometown storyline Saturday as local boxer Amanda Lovato rematches Albuquerque native Randee Lynn Morales at Expo New Mexico's Manuel Lujan Exhibition Hall, on a card themed around the upcoming Balloon Fiesta. Both women, New Mexicans and single moms, are eager to settle a 2022 bout that was ruled a no contest after timekeeping errors, promising an intense eight-round super flyweight showdown.
