Run as an addition to the South Valley Economic Development Center, the facility will help small and mid-sized New Mexico farmers meet buyer specifications and save on transportation costs.
   

2. Planning mistake puts Sunport overnight shelter's future in limbo (abq.news) — An overnight shelter near the Albuquerque Sunport can stay open for now, even after the City Council voted 6–3 to overturn its conditional use permit over neighborhood concerns. The council will finalize its findings on September 21, after which the Planning Department will decide enforcement and Empower Health Services may appeal. The shelter originally opened under incorrect zoning advice from a former city employee.
   

3. Man who shot Albuquerque police officer could spend 25 years in prison (krqe.com) — An Albuquerque man who shot a city police officer outside Adams Food Market on East Central is expected to receive a 25-year federal prison sentence under a plea deal. The 2023 incident, sparked by a stolen car investigation, left Officer Zachary Garris with hand injuries but still serving on the force. Sentencing is scheduled for next week.
   

4. 5. Farmers from Hatch to Corrales report heat, disease, and pests slashing New Mexico's chile harvest by up to 50%, pushing up wholesale prices and threatening both fresh and frozen supplies statewide.
