East Neck Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Hosts Grand Opening of New Activity Center

Local Care Center Renovates Common Area for Residents

The East Neck Nursing and Rehabilitation Center recently re-opened its residential activity center—transforming the common area into a more welcoming space for senior citizen residents to socialize and participate in various activities. Residents were brought down to the adjacent corridor for the ceremonial ribbon cutting and were asked to cut the gold, glittered ribbon. East Neck’s President of Resident Council Allen Duran and Facility Administrator Keith Powers presided over the ceremony. Following the ribbon cutting, residents were welcomed inside the newly refurbished activity center for an afternoon of delicious food, sparkling cider and great company.

The renovated activity center features a new state-of-the-art kitchen with new stainless steel appliances—making it easier to accommodate the culinary needs for future facility gatherings. Shelving units along with a brand new island were added to the kitchen, doubling the kitchen’s preparation area. In addition to the kitchen remodeling, new tile was laid, the ceiling was replaced and the walls were painted white and blue, transforming the room into a bright and tranquil place.

The activity center is now a place that will lighten up any residents’ day just by being there. East Neck staff members and residents are looking forward to many more days spent in the revamped activity center as they go through the healing and rehabilitation process.
