NY town OKs all-boys Muslim school in residential nabe — but 120 students can't stay overnight (nypost.com) — Bay Shore residents just saw a major zoning reversal: an all-boys Muslim school approved for a former waterfront Catholic campus will no longer be allowed to board 120 students overnight next to a senior community. The Islip Zoning Board's 3-1 vote means the school can open for daytime classes only, after months of heated neighborhood debate over noise, traffic, and the dormitory plan.
   

2. Clammer rescued in Great South Bay after his waders fill with water (greaterlongisland.com) — A 68-year-old clammer in Great South Bay was rescued after his kayak began sinking and his waders filled with water, leaving him semiconscious near Sore Thumb Beach. Good Samaritans and Suffolk police marine officers brought him to shore, and he was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment.
   

3. National Jeopardy! Bar League Returns October 4th! (newyorkfamily.com) — Bay Shore residents can join a new 10-week Jeopardy! Bar League season starting October 4, with games hosted at local participating venues. Teams compete weekly for more than $18,000 in prizes, including cash, random drawings, and potential casting auditions, plus a national grand prize trip to meet Ken Jennings.

LI Man Accused Of Stabbing Victim In Neck At Church Indicted: DA (patch.com) — A Bay Shore man has been indicted on attempted murder and assault charges after prosecutors say he stabbed a 65-year-old during a meeting at an Amityville church. The victim, still hospitalized after emergency surgery at Good Samaritan University Hospital, remains under medical care, while the defendant is being held on high bail and faces up to 25 years if convicted.
