Lewisboro Swim and Dive "B" Meet Success at Home!

Wednesday, July 11th Lewisboro Swim and Dive hosted their first "B" Meet of the season competing against teams from Mt. Pleasant, Lakeside and Yorktown.

Wednesday, July 11 Lewisboro Swim and Dive hosted their first “B” Meet of the season competing against teams from Mt. Pleasant, Lakeside and Yorktown.   “B” Meets offer novice and intermediate swimmers the opportunity to participate in a less competitive environment while providing them an opportunity to improve their proficiency.

“B” Meets are run in the same much the same manner as “A” Meets, however, swimmers may compete in all strokes, there are no relays or under 18 events and, while scores are not kept, each swimmer receives a ribbon at the end of their race.  B Meets are open to swimmers who have not place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an “A” Meet this season.

Warm up for the meet began at 4:30pm and the last of the light was dying out at 8:30pm when the final swimmers hit the water.  The tremendous turnout of swimmers this year meant multiple heats of all races.  Families brought blankets and picnicked between events.

New swimmers worried about diving off the blocks while seasoned pros from last year encouraged them to be brave and “just go for it.”  7 year-old Samantha Luper was thrilled to win her first blue ribbon; made all the more important by the act that it had eluded her last summer. And while there is the appearance of organized chaos, there is also great camaraderie among the children. One 13 year-old swimmer still finds "B" Meets fun.

“I love watching all the little kids, they are so cute," he said. "Plus I get to swim Butterfly which is my favorite stroke and I never get to do it in “A” Meets."
