#81: Take a Swim or Dive Right in

Newbridge Road Park's outdoor swimming pool opens Saturday, June 18.

A sure sign that summer will soon be here is when the Town of Hempstead swimming pool located at Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore opens for the season. 

This year, the pool opens on Saturday, June 18, and the season extends through Labor Day, which is Monday, Sept. 5. Pool hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Lifeguards are on duty watching over recreational swimmers in the main pool, as well as those taking the plunge off the diving board and youngsters enjoying the smaller children’s pool.

Town residents may purchase seasonal tags for $228 per family, $121 per individual or $73 for senior citizens, veterans, handicapped persons or volunteer firefighters/EMS/auxiliary police officers. Daily passes are also available for $7 per adult and $3.50 for children ages 5-9 or seniors/volunteers.  

Swimming lessons are offered at the pool for youngsters, by prior registration, and opportunities to join town swim teams that compete in the Nassau Municipal Swim Conference are also available. Additional fees apply. Call 783-2518 for more information.

Diving lessons are offered, as well as competitive diving team memberships. For information about diving, call 783-2511.
