The Chapel School Named Official Charity Partner

Bronxville, NY- The Chapel School has been named an Official Charity Partner of the 2023 United Airlines NYC Half, one of the nation’s premiere half marathons that will take runners on a 13.1-mile journey from Brooklyn to Manhattan on March 19, 2023. The race is organized by New York Road Runners (NYRR) and will have a field of around 25,000 runners this year.

“We are excited to be named an Official Charity Partner of the 2023 United Airlines NYC Half, which gives The Chapel School an incredible platform to raise awareness and funds for the art and drama programs of The Chapel School.,” said Kim Zwisdak, Development Office Project Manager, The Chapel School. “We look forward to having a dedicated team of runners take on the United Airlines NYC Half on behalf of our organization —training, preparing, and ultimately completing the 13.1-mile race for a cause that is both meaningful and close to each and every one of them.”

The Team is being coached by Pastor Hartwell and consists of the following three runners:

· Kaitlyn L. is a mother of 3 boys who have attended The Chapel School. She played college basketball and enjoys exercising when not working or spending time with her family. This is her first half marathon in 10+ years.

· Nate Linn is excited for the opportunity to run for Team Chapel Arts in support of The Chapel School's arts and drama program. He ran the New York City Marathon as a member of Team Chapel in 2016, and is looking forward to his first NYC Half Marathon. He and his wife Katrina live in Tuckahoe with their daughters, who are Chapel School preschool alumnae.

· Dmytro Yaskal is thankful for the opportunity to run for Team Chapel Arts and raise money for The Chapel School Arts & Drama Program. He knows firsthand the importance of music & the arts. He attended elementary school in Ukraine on a musical scholarship. Dmytro is a CPA and enjoys running to relieve stress and get in shape. He ran the prestigious New York City Marathon in 2016 as a member of Team Chapel and is excited to run the United Airlines New York City Half Marathon, for the first time, as a member of Team Chapel Arts.

The United Airlines NYC Half is one of the nation’s premiere half marathons, and an event which provides thousands of charity runners a platform to support important causes and missions. At the 2022 United Airlines NYC Half, over 2,400 runners raised more than $4.5 million for charity.

More than 25,000 runners are expected to participate in this one-of-a-kind race that showcases New York City’s historic landmarks, popular parks, sweeping views from the Manhattan Bridge, and diverse neighborhoods starting in Brooklyn then passing Grand Army Plaza, the United Nations, Grand Central Terminal, and Times Square, before ending near the iconic TCS New York City Marathon finish line in Central Park. Additionally, the race will host hundreds of children taking part in the Times Square Kids Run featuring a 1,500-meter out-and-back course on Seventh Avenue in Times Square.
