Pickleball Courts Are Making A Central Park Comeback

Game, set, dink.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — Pickleball is making a comeback at Wollman Rink, as CityPickle prepares to reopen its courts for a fourth season later this month.

On April 21, the East Side rink in Central Park will transform into a 14-court pickleball destination, open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. through early fall.

The setup will offer court rentals, open play, group clinics and private lessons for players of all skill levels, Wollman Rink representatives said. Wollman Rink is near the southeast corner of the park, around East 63rd Street.

This year, the pickleball courts will also include expanded programming for kids, with a summer camp running from late July through August.

"We’re proud to see Wollman Rink bring people together through recreation, movement, and play — not just in the winter but throughout the seasons," NYC Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura said. "CityPickle’s return introduces thousands more visitors to this fast-growing sport while ensuring that Central Park remains an inclusive and dynamic space, with affordable programming and community partnerships that expand access for New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds."
