Chappaqua Celebrates Hometown Presidential Favorite on Election Day: VIDEO
A flashmob galvanized the crowd at a Hillary rally in front of the Metro-North station.
CHAPPAQUA, NY — Election Day 2016 is a historical day for a hamlet that's hoping to become home to the U.S.A.'s first female president – and also the first town with two resident Presidents.
History was on the mind of resident Mary Refling, whose Election Day outfit paid homage not only to the suffragettes who fought for women's right to vote, but also to the strong women in her own life — including hat, belt and shoes from her nieces.
"This is an historic election," said the adjunct professor of languages. "Everything I'm wearing today represents a strong woman in my life. This pin is for my mother, who sold jewelry door-to-door to put food on the table. The ring is from my grandmother, the skirt handed down from my sister."

Chappaqua Friends of Hillary started its Nov. 8 activities at Chappaqua Station, a neighborhood hot spot located downtown at the Metro-North train station. A couple hundred people gathered in sweaters (and sometimes shorts) as the day grew mild and beautiful.
The first attraction was the flash mob, patterned on the Pantsuit Power video that went viral in October. About 75 people danced to cheers and encouragement from onlookers.

"This is great," said organizer Dawn Greenburg, one of the founders of Chappaqua Friends of Hillary. "I expected about five extroverts."
One of the dancers, Sheryl Manasse, said the group had just two rehearsals.
"I like to be involved," said the Chappaqua social worker. "The person choreographing it said 'just have fun."
In the evening, there are two events in town for watching the returns and hanging out with the neighbors.
