New York residents are asked to vote on their local school district’s budget and board of education May 19. Here are fast facts about the elections in Bedford and Chappaqua.
Bedford Central School District

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the elementary school serving your attendance area.
Board of Education
Five candidates are vying for three seats. They are Jessica Cambareri, Michelle Brooks, Beth Staropoli, Joseph Malichio and John Boucher.

- Proposed for 2019-20: $138.5 million
- Increase over current spending: 2.42%
- Tax levy increase: 3.81%

- Proposed for 2019-20: $126,152,188
- Increase over current spending: 2.93%
- Tax levy increase: 0.94%
Other propositions:
- Authorize the board to spend up to $390,000 on renovations and equipment replacement at the Robert E. Bell Middle School cafeteria, using up to $190,000 from fund balance, and the remainder to be paid using general fund transfers to the capital fund
- Authorize the board to spend up to $1,350,000 by transferring money from the unassigned fund balance to pay for renovations and construction for security updates and building access controls at Robert E. Bell and Seven Bridges middle schools, and Douglas Graffin, Roaring Brook and Westorchard elementary schools
